Welcome!

When we told people we were packing up our suburban life near Baton Rouge, Louisiana and moving to Woodville, Mississippi, we were met with blank stares, puzzled looks and, eventually, the question “Why?'“ This blog documents our adventures and answers to that “Why” each day we spend in our rural community.

“Why Woodville?” you ask. Here’s one more reason why. This young man—U.S. Army—was traveling through Woodville to Monroe when his tire blew out. His dilemma was that he had no jack, and he had to report to work at the food bank in Monroe first thing tomorrow.

Woodville resident Janice stopped to help but didn’t have a jack either, so she called friends Amanda and Todd, who got Terry back on the road.

Janice said, “Terry has a heart of gold & was telling me he started a program on his own with help from volunteers & donations at Christmas time each year that hands out gifts to children. Last year he helped an orphanage.”

We join Janice in thanking Terry for his service and welcoming him back to Woodville the next time he’s passing through.

And to Janice, Amanda, and Todd—YOU are Why Woodville? Even while dealing with power loss and hurricane cleanup, you took the time to help Terry and make him feel welcome in our community. People like you are why we love Woodville, Mississippi!
