Welcome!

When we told people we were packing up our suburban life near Baton Rouge, Louisiana and moving to Woodville, Mississippi, we were met with blank stares, puzzled looks and, eventually, the question “Why?'“ This blog documents our adventures and answers to that “Why” each day we spend in our rural community.

Retail

Treppendahl’s Mega Meat Sale runs October 11-13. Check out the weekly ad for savings, and be sure to say hello to Meat Market Manager Andy Partridge while you’re there. Did you know he’s worked at Treppendahl’s for about 40 years?! Andy once shared with us that he upgraded from his old two-seater truck for a larger vehicle so he’d have a little more room to accommodate his employees when they need a ride to/from work. What a true leader!

Set on 2.65 Acres on Highway 61 in Woodville, the property also includes 15 travel trailer hookups. Field Health System is celebrating four years at their hospital in Centreville. The hospital and clinics are vital to our rural area, and we’re fortunate to have talented physicians, nurses, administrators, therapists, and other staff. Field Health System’s Facebook page and website offer great information on career opportunities, providers, seasonal health issues, and services. Check them out, and be sure to thank Field Health System employees. Without skilled people willing to work in rural areas, communities like ours suffer.
