Upcoming Event Spotlight - Election Day
Tuesday, November 5 is Election Day. Wilkinson County residents are encouraged to GO VOTE! Healthy residents with transportation, please check on your elderly and/or disabled neighbors to see who could use assistance getting to their voting location. Anyone who has trouble getting into the building can curbside vote. If you are unsure of your voting location, contact the Circuit Clerk’s office at 601-888-6697. Be sure to bring your photo ID on Tuesday, and remember—every vote counts!
And in the words of one Wilkinson County resident: “Let’s keep this a nice clean election and not be ugly. God don’t like ugly.”
School Events
The Wilkinson County Christian Academy (WCCA) Rams Basketball Schedule has been announced. The first two games will be played at home:
November 5 - vs. Ben Ford Christian (4, 5, & 6 PM)
November 7 - vs. Cathedral (4, 5, 6, & 7 PM)
Community Events
November 2 - The Centreville Chamber of Commerce invites the public to the Centreville Annual BBQ Festival and Competition on November 2. Teams will be able to showcase their cooking talents in four categories, and there will be bands, concessions, kid activities, and more.
The Wilkinson County Wildcats Youth Football & Cheer 11-12 team will compete on Saturday, November 2 at 11 am in the Southern Independent Youth Football League Championship. The games will be held at Co-Lin Community College. Admission is $7. Kids 5 and under get in free. Concessions will be available.
MS-LOU Health and Wellness will host the Stepping for a Cure Cancer Benefit at the Wilkinson County Park on Friday, November 1. Tickets are $20 and are selling out fast!
On Thursday, November 7, the Wilkinson County Cattlemen’s Association will hold their Annual Membership Banquet and Meeting at Vine Brothers’ Meats & Restaurant in Centreville beginning at 5:30 pm. The event speaker is Dr. Glen Gentry of Idlewild Research Station. Registration/RSVP is required no later than Tuesday, November 5 by contacting the Wilkinson County Extension Office at 601-888-3211. Membership dues are $45.
November 2 - Flea Market on the Square in Downtown Woodville from 10-4. Reserve your booth space today! This is just like a garage sale or flea market except all on the Square! Make some cash for the upcoming holidays. Don’t need to sell? Then come shop!

Flick’s Convenience Store is stepping up their plate lunch game. Stop in and try some of their chicken, seafood, or smoked meats!
The Orchard Cafe will be open Friday night until 7 pm and Saturday 11 am - 3 pm.

Did You Know?
Several Wilkinson County Christian Academy (WCCA) 3rd-5th graders recently competed in the 2019 Mississippi Robotics STEM Competition, sponsored by Nissan and held at Nissan’s Canton Training Center. Each participant had the option to compete in a maximum of five events, including three required events (Math, Science, and Tool ID) and two optional events (SUMO Wrestling Robots, R/C Car Bowling, or Drone Flying).
Cash A., Drew G., Justin H., Maxwell P., Davis R., Brason S., DeMarien TD., and Malik TD. competed, and many placed 1st-4th out of 50 in the five events. Justin Henry placed 6th Overall in State for all STEM events.
The student’s instructor and sponsor, Ray Holt, founded Mississippi Robotics after moving to Mississippi in 2010 to investigate the possibility of teaching rural students engineering and math. Hot holds multiple degrees and an extensive work history in computer design and manufacturing, computer science, and education, but some of his most notable work includes:
Designed of the first microchip computer and the first electronic pin ball game
Directed the engineering of an academy-awarded special-effects product
Produced a single-card computer used in the United States Navy’s first two robot
Recognized as a pioneer in the small computer publishing market

Small friendly farmers market with local vendors who have handmade crafts or homegrown produce, goat cheeses and milk, and local honey. They will have some fall produce this market.
