Around Town on a Friday Evening

I managed to get a walk in just as the storm clouds and dark set in. Some might think that the hub of activity at the Courthouse Square ends at 5pm on a Friday, but that’s when you see a different kind of activity.

Along my route I encountered a woman walking her dogs; a man jogging with headphones (though he still managed a friendly hello as we passed); a warm glow of light filtering through a storefront as women gathered for new hairdos; a buzzing barber shop full of men and boys getting fresh cuts or milling about outside catching up on the latest news; county employees, attorneys, and bankers locking up for the week; a woman in her housedress feeding a cat (I think) in her backyard.

This is my town. It’s so beautiful.
