Welcome!

When we told people we were packing up our suburban life near Baton Rouge, Louisiana and moving to Woodville, Mississippi, we were met with blank stares, puzzled looks and, eventually, the question “Why?'“ This blog documents our adventures and answers to that “Why” each day we spend in our rural community.

Wettlin

Wettlin

This man greeted us from the register as we walked in to Treppendahl's Super Foods this morning. It was 6:30, folks, and Wettlin Treppendahl was wearing the same smile he wears every time we see him. That’s no exaggeration. He exudes positivity.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As Wettlin scanned our honey buns and Diet Cokes he said, “You know, these are really good if you warm them in the microwave for about 10 seconds.” He was about to take that sugary breakfast out of my hands and go warm them himself when I told him I’d walk them back to the deli and get them warmed.

Woodville is lucky to have a man like Wettlin. He has a heart for his community and neighbors, and he’s always going the extra mile—with that wonderful smile!
