Welcome!

When we told people we were packing up our suburban life near Baton Rouge, Louisiana and moving to Woodville, Mississippi, we were met with blank stares, puzzled looks and, eventually, the question “Why?'“ This blog documents our adventures and answers to that “Why” each day we spend in our rural community.

Mission

Mission

A short while ago when I began sharing all the treasures I found in my community each day, I never dreamed so many people would connect. Our Facebook page reached 500 followers today.

The original mission of “Why Woodville?” was to highlight all the reasons we thought Woodville was well worth giving up our suburban life (a justification, if you will, to the people who thought we had lost our minds). That objective, however, has grown as we’ve interacted with the people around us. It’s no longer about explaining our move, but more about telling the world of the beautiful people and places we find daily in our community. There is an overwhelming sense of home one finds in Small Town, U.S.A.

Thank you, Woodville friends, for greeting these newcomers with warm smiles wherever we go and for humoring my requests for photos. And thank you to those followers who are joining us in the discovery of all things wonderful in Woodville, Mississippi. We’re nowhere close to done.
